It is said to be he fastest online release after a major music event. Less than 45 minutes after the McCartney-U2 Live8 performance of Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the tune was being sold at www.Live8Live.com for 99 cents U.S. Universal Music Group had rush-released the song as a digital download making it the fastest worldwide commercial download from a major music event. It might possibly set a Guinness World Record.
According to Universal spokesman, Adam White, the rush-release involved three countries. The sound was recorded and mastered in London, transmitted to Universal's production center in Hanover, Germany, and then zapped to its global distribution warehouse in the United States. For now, the recording of the performance can only be purchased as a download, not in its physical form. All the Universal proceeds from the download will be donated to Live8.
