In Paris today, during the launch of her new spring / summer collection, Stella McCartney announced that she and her husband, Alasdhair Willis, are expecting their first child in March. Stella told reporters that she does not know if her baby is a boy or a girl:
"I want it to be a natural thing," she told the newspaper. "I want it to be a surprise."
The baby will be Sir Paul's the third grandchild.
Stella is in Paris for Fashion Week introducing her Spring/Summer 2005 collection which she hopes will bring a tropical holiday feel to the urban environment. Once again, the event was held at 10:00 this morning at the Palais Brongniart, Place de la Bourse. Sir Paul is currently in the United States, so he wasn't occupying his usual front-row seat. In fact, Sir Paul and Heather were spotted today in New York city dining at Il Gattopardo restaurant in midtown Manhattan. Taking his place in the front-row was Stella's close friend Gwyneth Paltrow who attended the show with her four-month-old daughter Apple.
Stella's in-laws Robert and Alwyn Willis have told reporters that they were "extremely happy" for the couple. Mrs. Willis said:
"It will be a new and exciting experience for them and we just can't wait."
