Today's Mail on Sunday reports that Geoff Baker has resigned after 15 years of serving as publicist to Sir Paul McCartney. Friends claim that Sir Paul's wife Heather feels that rock-n-roll lifestyle has a bad influence on her husband. Mr. Baker confirms this, telling the Mail:
"After 30 years of experience, I m no stranger to experimentation. I don t think Heather shares my liberal views on cannabis. I told Paul that I wanted to concentrate on new projects. I' m writing a novel about fatherhood. I have not lost any of my friendship for Paul. I lost interest in the day-to-day process of PR, which is not as exciting as working on a world tour."
Baker's last McCartney assignment was at Glastonbury last June. The Mail quotes a source as saying:
"Heather and Geoff refused to speak a word to each other. It makes it hard for Paul and the situation was just not working. Paul is very loyal to Geoff but he was feeling divided between his loyalty to his wife and his friend."
