2004-May-13: Too Noisy for the Cats

(Updated May 14) As reported earlier this week, Sir Paul is rehearsing for his summer tour in London's Millennium Dome (see May 9) . Now it seems the neighbors are complaining. One Mr. Eric Peperton states:

"I thought someone was listening to a ghettoblaster in one of the other flats. I had the windows closed and the front door just open enough to let the cat in and out. It took me a while to realize that this bass was coming from the Dome on the other side of the river. I rang up the environmental health officers at the council and they told me 'It's Paul McCartney'. I said 'So what? He doesn't pay my rates (taxes), and if it was me that was doing this I would have been prosecuted.' I don't care who it is. It is bad enough that he arrives every morning in a noisy helicopter. I thought it was quite unacceptable and even my cat was disturbed."

Sir Paul's spokesman, Geoff Baker, has apologized, telling the British press:

"We love animals and so we're sorry about Mr. Pemberton's cat, because we love animals, but we're confident that when we turn the music back up again for the European tour, everyone else will love it - even the cat!"

So now the McCartney sounds filtering through the Dome are being monitored to ensure they will not exceed the agreed level of 92 decibels.
