This morning, Heather Mills McCartney was awarded the Pan American Health Organization's Champion of Health Award at the PAHO headquarters in Washington, D.C. (see April 6). Heather told the assembly that as part of the organization's campaign for the prevention of traffic injuries, she would appear in public service television advertisements without her prosthetic leg to draw attention to the 1.2 million traffic deaths that occur worldwide each year:
"It took one human error to take my leg and one human error to take my mother's. You really can fix this. It's just about more awareness."
