Sir Paul will celebrate his 62nd birthday in Russia this year. Organizers of the McCartney tour have declined to specify how Sir Paul plans to celebrate his birthday. Sir Paul will play in Helsinki, Finland on June 17 and it has been hinted to the Russian press that he will so on to St. Petersburg immediately to celebrate his birthday on June 18. The organizers did talk about the plans for the 2 1/2 hour concert in St. Petersburg's Palace Square on June 20:
"A total of 10,000 seats will be installed in St. Petersburg's Palace Square for the concert. Another 50,000 places will also be available for standing room only. The concert's program will be brand new. It will not be his Best of : program, but something absolutely different, including some of his latest works."
A diagram of the square has been sent to McCartneys sound engineer to examine the problems emerging from the squares unique acoustics. Because of the size of the square, sound has been known to vanish in some locations. There will be some special effects ("whatever one can invent"):
"There will be two 18-meter-high screens by the sides of the stage, while the backdrop will be a mirror turning into a huge screen at certain moments."
