Following in the footsteps of her sister Stella, Baby Beatrice McCartney is starting to set fashion trends for babies. The British press reports that the Silver Cross baby buggy (a.k.a."Bentleys for babies") is enjoying a comeback now that it has been revealed that Sir Paul purchased one of the Bingley firm's prams for his new baby daughter. Beatrice will travel in style in the luxury "Balmoral" model, the flagship of the Silver Cross pram line. The coach body is hand-finished with fine lining using traditional methods. The steel bodied carriages are painstakingly hand-brushed with three coats of high shine lacquer. The English leather suspension and painted steel chassis is mounted atop separately sprung and individually laced wheels. Each carriage is designed with utmost safety and comfort in mind. Continuing the 127 year tradition of craftsmanship, each pram is sequentially numbered. The cost of the buggy is in the $2600 range.
The demand for Silver Cross prams is exceeding all expectations. Recently, the historic company was experiencing such financial problems it was forced to close. Silver Cross was relaunched in Bingley in April. Since new mothers such as Catherine Zeta Jones, Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, and now Heather Mills McCartney have chosen the royal carriage as the vehicle of choice for their babies, there is a six-week waiting list to acquire one of these luxury prams.
