"Paul McCartney: The Journey to Red Square" the documentary that chronicles Sir Paul's first visit to Russia will be broadcast on ORT Television this weekend as part of the festivities being held in Russia to mark the anniversary of the 1917 revolution when the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia following the dethronement of Tsar Nicholas II. The program was televised in the United States back in September (see September 14). Ironically, portions of the film feature clips of Russian experts who explain how the music of Sir Paul and the Beatles inspired a spirit of free thinking among the youth of the country which spread throughout the USSR and brought an end to Communism. According to Timothy Ryback, Professor of Political Studies at the Salzburg Institute:"There was no more pervasive force throughout the Soviet bloc than The Beatles." Recalling his first visit to Russia, Sir Paul said:
"We had such a great time there when we visited. The Russian people were really friendly and I feel honored to have been part of this social change."
